I often ask patients why they chose the doctor they came from. The answers are usually the same: "our neighbour recommended them," "the hospital name is well-known," "the online reviews were good." These are not wrong reasons. But they are not sufficient criteria for choosing a cancer surgeon. Cancer surgery is not the same as choosing a hospital for a routine procedure.
